NEURYON — Pipeline Installation & Modernisation
Client: WP Welding AB (main contractor) Site: NEURYON industrial facility, Sweden Industry: Power & Energy Period: May 2025 – August 2026 Services: Pipeline Installation · Industrial Welding
Context
The NEURYON project is MIDAS’s longest continuous campaign: a multi-month pipeline installation and plant modernisation programme spanning from May 2025 through late 2026. Where most of our Nordic work has been short, intensive outage-based delivery, NEURYON is structured as an ongoing installation campaign — new piping lines added to existing infrastructure while the rest of the plant operates around the work.
Long-duration campaigns test different capabilities than short outages. A two-week turnaround is about crew density and speed. A multi-month campaign is about sustained delivery, welder rotation without quality drift, consistent documentation across dozens of installation segments, and cumulative safety performance over an extended deployment.
WP Welding AB — our Swedish main contractor partner — brought MIDAS onto NEURYON as the welding and piping crew for this extended scope.
Scope
Delivered across the ongoing campaign:
- Installation of new piping lines on existing pipe racks
- Welded tie-ins to the existing plant’s process and service piping network
- Modernisation and partial refurbishment of operating industrial equipment
- Pressure testing and commissioning handover on a line-by-line basis
The campaign is structured as incremental delivery — small sections of new piping installed, tested, handed over, and brought into service, with the next section starting immediately. This reduces the plant’s exposure and lets operations continue around the work.
Approach
Long campaigns are managed through three disciplines:
Welder rotation. Our welders are rotated through deployment windows so that no single welder is continuously on site for an unsustainable period. Rotation is planned so that at any given time, the crew on site includes welders experienced with the specific scope and welders being inducted to prepare for the next rotation.
Documentation consistency. Every line gets the same test pack discipline as the short-outage work. With a campaign running over a year, the risk is that documentation quality drifts as the initial project-start-up rigor fades. Our answer is routine: the welding supervisor runs the same test pack check on week 60 as on week 1.
Sustained HSE performance. Long campaigns tempt HSE fatigue. Daily toolbox talks, weekly safety walks, monthly HSE reviews with the main contractor — all maintained for the full duration. The goal is a zero-incident close-out on the final line, not just the first ten.
